End of an era

Though she spends most of her life working for the good of people she doesn’t know, in the end, Padmé falls victim to the evil of one closest to her. Her secret marriage to Jedi Anakin Skywalker ends in tragedy when her husband falls to the dark side of the Force. Anakin helps Darth Sidious destroy the Republic Padmé serves, effectively bringing to an end the very democracy she is fighting so hard to protect.

A pregnant Padmé is escorted to a medical facility by Anakin’s former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, where she gives birth to twins, whom she names Luke and Leia. Tragically, Padmé dies shortly afterward. Her funeral is attended by thousands of the Naboo who turn out to honor their former Queen and her myriad contributions toward peace and unity on their homeworld and across the galaxy.
